What the Burkina Faso visa rules mean for Central African Republic travellers
Central African Republic citizens can enter Burkina Faso without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. You only need a valid Central African Republic passport at the border; immigration officers may still ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and enough money for your stay. The 90-day limit usually counts calendar days from your arrival, so book your return flight inside that window.
Documents to prepare
Whatever your visa status, Burkina Faso applies the same entry conditions to every traveller:
- Passport validity: The entry conditions require a passport or travel document "en cours de validité" (valid), and the UK FCDO says your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay and have 2 blank pages for entry stamps.
- Blank passport pages: Your passport needs at least 2 blank pages.
- Vaccinations: Yellow fever: WHO's country list says proof of vaccination against yellow fever is required for all travellers aged 9 months or over.
- Travel insurance: Short-stay visa applicants must provide a health insurance certificate covering the whole stay, together with a medical certificate showing they have no contagious disease.
