Editorial Policy
CountryExplainer helps travellers understand visas, entry rules, airports and practical travel facts. These are the standards we apply to everything we publish.
Accuracy first
- Every fact comes from a named source — official government information, recognised open datasets or published news reports. Our data sources page lists them with their licences and update schedules.
- We do not guess. When a source does not state something (a date, a fee, a rule), we say that it has not been announced instead of filling the gap.
- Pages that change often show the date of the last check, and the structured data of every page carries its real "last modified" date.
How our news is produced
Our news desk monitors published reports about visas, e-Visas, entry rules, passports, airports, flights and travel safety for every country. Each story is rewritten for travellers by our editorial system with the help of an AI language model, under strict rules:
- Only facts from the original report. The model may not add dates, numbers, fees, names or quotes that are not in the source.
- Automatic fact check. Every number in the headline, summary and article must appear in the original report. If it does not, the article is rewritten; if the problem remains, it is not published.
- Original wording. Articles and headlines are written in our own words and focus on what the news means for travellers.
- Relevance. Stories without a practical consequence for travellers — pure politics, crime or sport — are not published.
- Illustrative images. News images are generated illustrations, labelled "Illustrative image"; they do not show the actual event.
We keep a record of the original source of every article.
Independence
CountryExplainer is not affiliated with any government. Rankings, visa information and travel advice are calculated from the listed data sources with the same rules for every country. Airport services (Meet & Greet, lounges, transfers) can be booked through our booking partner; this has no influence on our travel information.
Not legal advice
Our information is general guidance. Entry decisions are always made by the authorities of the destination country — confirm critical requirements with the official source before you travel.
Corrections
If you find an error, email [email protected] with the page address and, if possible, the correct information and its source. We review every report and correct confirmed errors as quickly as possible; the page's update date changes with the correction.
