Sharing personal information, such as passport details and phone numbers, can be daunting. However, at CountryExplainer, we believe that data security concerns should not be part of planning your trip.
When you use CountryExplainer, all data transmitted between your device and our servers is secured with 256-bit TLS encryption. Additionally, all data stored on our servers is encrypted at rest using AES-256.
Our servers are housed in data centers certified to SOC1, SOC2, and ISO 27001 standards, featuring 24/7 security, fire detection and suppression, redundant power supply, and stringent physical access protocols. We maintain our computing resources with regular security updates and patches, adhering to industry best practices for resource segmentation and firewall configuration.
We uphold the belief that data ownership is a fundamental human right. Your data is yours, and we do not license or sell any information to third parties. CountryExplainer is fully compliant with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Photos you upload to Photo Maker
Face detection, cropping and quality checks run in your own browser. When you ask for background removal or the AI photo check, the image is sent over an encrypted connection to our processing service. A copy of the photo you upload for background removal is kept on our server for up to 7 days for quality control and abuse prevention and is then deleted automatically. It is accessible only to our administrators, is never sold or shared for marketing, and is never used to train AI models.
