Understanding visa-free travel and passport power
Visa-free access is one of the most valuable things a passport gives you. We track 199 passports and check each of them against 199 destinations, so you can see at a glance where you can go with nothing more than your passport.
Not having to apply for a visa saves time, money and paperwork. On average a passport opens 65 countries visa-free, but the spread is huge: Singapore leads with 130 destinations, while the weakest passports open fewer than 30. Diplomatic relations, reciprocity agreements and migration policy all shape the numbers.
How to use the visa-free countries list
Choose your passport from the list above or use the search box. Each passport page shows the total number of visa-free destinations, how many of them allow an unlimited stay, the most common maximum stay, and a colour-coded world map.
The table on each page can be searched and filtered by entry type, so you can also check destinations that offer a visa on arrival, an eTA or an eVisa — the next-easiest options after visa-free entry.
What you will find for each passport
Every passport page includes a country-by-country table with the permitted stay (for example 30, 90 or 180 days), a breakdown of destinations by length of stay, the passport's position in the visa-free ranking and answers to the most common questions about visa-free travel.
Visa-free status usually covers tourism and short business visits only. Your passport typically has to be valid for at least six months, and border officers may ask for a return ticket, proof of accommodation or sufficient funds.
