What the Burkina Faso visa rules mean for Côte d'Ivoire travellers
Côte d'Ivoire citizens can enter Burkina Faso without a visa and live there under freedom of movement. You only need a valid Côte d'Ivoire passport at the border; immigration officers may still ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and enough money for your stay.
Documents to prepare
Whatever your visa status, Burkina Faso applies the same entry conditions to every traveller:
- Passport validity: The entry conditions require a passport or travel document "en cours de validité" (valid), and the UK FCDO says your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay and have 2 blank pages for entry stamps.
- Blank passport pages: Your passport needs at least 2 blank pages.
- Vaccinations: Yellow fever: WHO's country list says proof of vaccination against yellow fever is required for all travellers aged 9 months or over.
- Travel insurance: Short-stay visa applicants must provide a health insurance certificate covering the whole stay, together with a medical certificate showing they have no contagious disease.
