What the Burkina Faso visa rules mean for Timor-Leste travellers
Timor-Leste passport holders need an eVisa to enter Burkina Faso. You apply online, upload a passport scan and a photo, pay the fee and receive the visa by email. Apply at least one to two weeks before your trip and print the approval — some airlines and border officers ask to see it on paper.
The main option is the Tourist short-stay visa (Visa Tourisme), applied for at an embassy, which costs 66,000 XOF. Burkina Faso also offers Tourist short-stay visa (Visa Tourisme), applied for online — see the visa options above.
Documents to prepare
Whatever your visa status, Burkina Faso applies the same entry conditions to every traveller:
- Passport validity: The entry conditions require a passport or travel document "en cours de validité" (valid), and the UK FCDO says your passport must be valid for the duration of your stay and have 2 blank pages for entry stamps.
- Blank passport pages: Your passport needs at least 2 blank pages.
- Vaccinations: Yellow fever: WHO's country list says proof of vaccination against yellow fever is required for all travellers aged 9 months or over.
- Travel insurance: Short-stay visa applicants must provide a health insurance certificate covering the whole stay, together with a medical certificate showing they have no contagious disease.
