What the Cape Verde visa rules mean for Mali travellers

Mali citizens can enter Cape Verde without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. You only need a valid Mali passport at the border; immigration officers may still ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and enough money for your stay. The 90-day limit usually counts calendar days from your arrival, so book your return flight inside that window.

Documents to prepare

Whatever your visa status, Cape Verde applies the same entry conditions to every traveller:

  • Passport validity: Cabo Verde's foreigners law (Lei n.º 66/VIII/2014, Article 7(3)) says travel documents must be valid for longer than the authorised stay, except on the re-entry of a foreigner legally resident in Cabo Verde. The Embassy…
  • Vaccinations: Yellow fever: WHO's country list says Cabo Verde requires proof of yellow fever vaccination from travellers aged 1 year or over arriving from countries with risk of yellow fever transmission.
  • Travel insurance: No official source we could read states a travel-insurance requirement for Cabo Verde. The UK Foreign Office says Global Health Insurance Cards (GHIC) are not accepted in Cape Verde, so it is essential to have appropria…
  • Return or onward ticket: Cabo Verde's foreigners law requires tourist-visa applicants to hold a transport ticket that lets them enter and leave Cabo Verde.

Arrival cards and declarations: EASE travel pre-registration + airport security tax (TSA)

5 days

The Embassy of Cabo Verde in Washington says all foreign citizens planning to travel to Cabo Verde must pre-register on the EASE platform (ease.gov.cv) 5 days before departure to pay the airport security tax (TSA). The UK government's travel advice adds that from 1 July 2026 travellers who have not completed the pre-registration, or cannot show proof, pay double the TSA fee at border control; we found no Cabo Verdean text that states this.

Registration after arrival

48 hours

Owners and operators of hotels, guesthouses and similar lodgings, and anyone who lodges a foreigner, even by sublet, must send the police a copy of the individual accommodation form (boletim de alojamento) within 48 hours. They must report the foreigner's departure to the police within 48 hours, and register with the DEF to use the electronic collection system. Non-resident foreigners living in their own home send the form themselves, for themselves and for foreigners living with them. Each form not submitted on time: fine of 2,000 to 10,000 escudos.

The person must also pay the fee that would have been due had the stay been authorised, without prejudice to any expulsion.
