Visa & Entry Requirements for Iraq
Most travellers need a visa for Iraq: 150 of 198 passports must apply at an embassy or consulate, while 1 passport enters visa-free.
The UK government says visit visas are no longer issued on arrival in Iraq, and the UK, Canadian and Australian governments say their citizens need a visa before they travel, from Iraq's e-Visa portal or, Canada adds, an Iraqi embassy or consulate. The UK FCDO gives the e-Visa fee as USD 160 and its validity as 60 days; Iraq's portal says it is valid for 30 days. The Kurdistan Region has its own e-visa process, and the UK says those visas are valid for travel in the Kurdistan Region only. Iraq's Foreigner Residence Law No. 76 of 2017 requires a foreigner entering Iraq to hold a valid entry visa marked in the passport and says Iraq's representative offices abroad issue entry visas; it does not apply to persons exempted under international agreements to which Iraq is a party.
