What the Laos visa rules mean for Myanmar travellers
Myanmar citizens can enter Laos without a visa and stay for up to 14 days. You only need a valid Myanmar passport at the border; immigration officers may still ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and enough money for your stay. The 14-day limit usually counts calendar days from your arrival, so book your return flight inside that window.
Documents to prepare
Whatever your visa status, Laos applies the same entry conditions to every traveller:
- Passport validity: The Lao eVisa terms say the passport should have a minimum validity of 6 months from the date of arrival in Laos; the UK government says your passport must have an expiry date at least 6 months after the date you arrive…
- Blank passport pages: Your passport needs at least 1 blank page.
- Travel insurance: No official source we could read makes insurance a condition of entry. The UK government says medical care in Laos can be basic, that outside the capital there are no reliable facilities to deal with medical emergencies…
- Return or onward ticket: No official source we could read states an onward-ticket requirement for Laos.
