Sri Lanka citizens need a visa issued in advance by an embassy or consulate of Lebanon. Start the application several weeks before departure: you will typically need a passport valid for six months with blank pages, a completed application form, passport photos, a travel itinerary, proof of accommodation and of sufficient funds, and sometimes an invitation letter or bank statements.
The main option is the Tourist or visit visa, which costs 2,000,000 LBP.

General Security asks applicants for a visa through an embassy for a round-trip airline ticket reservation, and requires a round-trip airline ticket of the nationalities given a one-month visa under its Eighth Article (Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and others).

Nationalities given a one-month visa under General Security's Eighth Article (Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia and others) must have a sum equivalent to USD 2,000, or a cheque for the same amount certified by the bank concerned. Applicants for a visa through an embassy show a bank statement for the last three months or other proof of sufficient funds.

General Security says overstay penalties are collected at the rate that applies when they fall due, without stating the amount. The UK government says travellers who overstay may have to pay a fine at the airport, in Lebanese currency only, at departures before security.
