Khan-Khokhi Khyargas Mountain National Park

Khan-Khokhi Khyargas Mountain National Park is one of 19 national parks in Mongolia. It covers 3,413 km² (341,300 ha) — about 2.2 times the size of London, making it the #9 largest national park in Mongolia (3.4% of the country's national park area).

History and protection

The park was established in 2000, 26 years ago — the first national parks in Mongolia date back to 1965. It is listed in IUCN category II: National Park — protecting whole ecosystems while welcoming visitors for recreation and education.
