Kiribati passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Nauru for stays of up to 90 days. There is nothing to apply for in advance — the visa is issued at the airport or land border after you pay the fee. Bring cash in a major currency, a passport valid for at least six months, a return ticket and the address of your first night's accommodation, and expect a queue at busy airports.

Under Nauru's Immigration Regulations 2014, a visitor's visa may only be granted to a person who holds a valid ticket for travel from Nauru to another country and any documents necessary for entering the country of destination (regulation 12(1)(a)), so visa applicants are required to hold one. The Government of Canada's travel advice says customs officials may ask to see a return or onward ticket.

Under Nauru's Immigration Act, a person without sufficient lawful means of support for themselves and their dependants can be declared a prohibited immigrant, and the Immigration Regulations 2014 require a visitor's visa applicant to show means of support if asked (regulation 12(1)(c)). Nauru's Immigration Regulations 2014 say a person arriving in Nauru shall complete an arrival card, sign a declaration on it that the information is correct and give it to an immigration officer when requested; the card asks for details including names, passport number and expiry date, nationality and flight number.

A person who remains in Nauru after their visa expires is an overstayer and must pay an overstayer fee of $50 for every day after expiry; the Act does not name the currency. A person who overstays by more than 7 days may not re-enter Nauru, except on a special purpose visa, within 6 months after the visa expired, unless the Minister directs otherwise.
