Norway Travellers to Tanzania Face New Health Forms and 21-Day Ebola Checks
Tanzania's Ministry of Health has issued Travel Advisory No. 18 of 17 October 2026, adding a health form, temperature checks and 21-day monitoring at entry after Ebola cases in the region.

Tanzania has expanded public health checks for people entering the country in response to the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and a related case reported in Kenya involving a patient travelling from the DRC. The country's Ministry of Health set out the measures in Travel Advisory No. 18 of 17 October 2026.
The steps bring screening and monitoring at all points of entry into line with the International Health Regulations (2005) as amended in 2024 and the Tanzania Public Health Act of 2009, the advisory says.

Mandatory infection prevention and control measures also apply, along with decontamination procedures for any conveyance suspected of contamination.

Travellers identified as high-risk will be followed up and monitored for 21 days. The advisory asks travellers to cooperate with health authorities and comply with all public health requirements.
What about departing travellers?
People leaving Tanzania are advised to make sure they meet the entry requirements of their destination or transit countries. The advisory does not list what those requirements are.
Are there exceptions or fees?

What this means for travellers
Travellers planning to enter Tanzania should factor in the health form and entry screening, and allow time to complete the Traveller's Health Surveillance Form before departure or on arrival. Those who may fall into a higher-risk category should be aware that follow-up monitoring runs for 21 days.
Anyone travelling onward from Tanzania should check the entry requirements of their destination or transit country before departure.
What happens next
No end date or review point has been announced for the measures. The Royal Norwegian Embassy in Dar es Salaam, which published the advisory for travellers, has not given further guidance beyond the text of Travel Advisory No. 18.
