Aegis Air, a new private jet service, is scheduled to launch flights between South Florida and Caracas, Venezuela, starting October 20. This venture is the result of a partnership between Frank Ornstein, a hotelier from Palm Beach, and Ross Thompson, a security expert. The service aims to facilitate secure travel for business executives and diplomats amid increasing commercial ties between the U.S. and Venezuela following the removal of Nicolás Maduro.

Service Details

Aegis Air will operate two roundtrip flights per week from Miami–Opa Locka Executive Airport to Caracas. The flights will be conducted on 16-passenger aircraft, providing a premium experience that includes chef-curated meals and visa assistance for travelers. Roundtrip fares are set at $7,500, with one-way tickets priced at $3,200.

Target Audience

The service is primarily aimed at oil and gas industry executives, international attorneys, and other professionals traveling to Venezuela. The founders believe that there is a growing demand for secure and convenient travel options to Caracas, especially in light of recent diplomatic developments and infrastructure projects in the country.

Background and Future Plans

The establishment of Aegis Air comes at a time when Venezuela is seeing renewed interest from international businesses, particularly in the wake of significant oil deals and recovery efforts after a recent earthquake. Ornstein and Thompson are also exploring potential hospitality investments in Venezuela, including acquiring a hotel in Caracas.

This new service is expected to benefit both U.S. and Venezuelan interests by facilitating travel and fostering business relationships between the two nations.
