What the Norway visa rules mean for Monaco travellers

Monaco citizens can enter Norway without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. You only need a valid Monaco passport at the border; immigration officers may still ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and enough money for your stay. The 90-day limit usually counts calendar days from your arrival, so book your return flight inside that window.

Overstay penalties

A foreigner who intends to stay in Norway for more than three months without working must hold a residence permit; stays in other Schengen countries count as stays in Norway. Breaching § 55 first or second paragraph is punishable by a fine, up to six months' imprisonment, or both. A foreigner may be expelled for serious or repeated breaches of the Act or of the Border Act, for knowingly or grossly negligently giving materially false or clearly misleading information, or for evading a decision imposing a duty to leave. Expulsion bars later entry to Norway and the Schengen and EU area, permanently or for a limited period of at least one year. An entry ban given under § 66 first paragraph (a), (d) or (f) or second paragraph may be for one, two or five years, and for more than five years where public order or fundamental national interests make it necessary.
