What the Norway visa rules mean for Panama travellers

Panama citizens can enter Norway without a visa and stay for up to 90 days. You only need a valid Panama passport at the border; immigration officers may still ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and enough money for your stay. The 90-day limit usually counts calendar days from your arrival, so book your return flight inside that window.

Arrival cards and declarations: EES — Entry/Exit System (biometric registration)

The UK Foreign Office says that when you travel into the Schengen area for short stays you may need to register your biometric details, such as fingerprints and a photo, that on your first visit you may be asked to do so at a special booth before the immigration desk, that there is no cost for EES registration, and that you do not need to take any action before you arrive at the border.

Overstay penalties

A foreigner who intends to stay in Norway for more than three months without working must hold a residence permit; stays in other Schengen countries count as stays in Norway. Breaching § 55 first or second paragraph is punishable by a fine, up to six months' imprisonment, or both. A foreigner may be expelled for serious or repeated breaches of the Act or of the Border Act, for knowingly or grossly negligently giving materially false or clearly misleading information, or for evading a decision imposing a duty to leave. Expulsion bars later entry to Norway and the Schengen and EU area, permanently or for a limited period of at least one year. An entry ban given under § 66 first paragraph (a), (d) or (f) or second paragraph may be for one, two or five years, and for more than five years where public order or fundamental national interests make it necessary.
