Romania visa options for Belarus citizensSet by the EU–Belarus visa facilitation agreement: the fee for processing visa applications is EUR 35, or EUR 70 where the applicant has requested a decision within two days of submission and the consulate has accepted; it is waived for listed categories of persons, among them children under the age of 12. Under the EU Visa Code, applicants for a Schengen visa must prove that they hold adequate and valid travel medical insurance, valid throughout the territory of the Member States for the entire period of the intended stay, with a minimum coverage of EUR 30,000. No official source we could read states that a return or onward ticket is required to enter Romania. The Schengen Borders Code says Annex I contains a non-exhaustive list of supporting documents a border guard may request from a third-country national, and that list includes a return or round-trip ticket.

Romania's Foreign Ministry lists, among the conditions for entering the Schengen Area, sufficient means of subsistence both for the planned stay and for the return to the country of origin or transit to a third country. The European Commission's table of national reference amounts gives Romania's as EUR 50, but no less than €500 for the entire period, or EUR 30 for third-country nationals to whom the invitation procedure applies.

The UK government's travel advice says that when you travel into the Schengen area for short stays you may need to register biometric details such as fingerprints and a photo, that on your first visit you may be asked to register at a special booth before the immigration desk, that you do not need to take any action before you arrive at the border, and that there is no cost for EES registration.

The EU's official ETIAS website lists Romania among the 30 European countries that require visa-exempt travellers to have an ETIAS travel authorisation. It says ETIAS is currently not in operation and no applications are collected, and that the EU will inform about the start date several months before its launch.

A foreigner who entered Romania legally, and the person hosting them, must notify the territorial police within 3 days of entry or of the start of hosting. When staying in a hotel or other tourist accommodation, the foreigner completes the registration formalities with the establishment, which sends the data to the territorial police within 24 hours. The rule also refers to sending the foreigner's registration data to the General Inspectorate for Immigration through an IT application provided for this purpose. Failing to announce the stay is fined 400 to 800 lei.

Visa-exempt foreigners may enter Romania and stay up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Foreigners staying legally for a time may stay only until their right of stay under the visa or residence permit ends. Failing to leave Romania after the right of stay ends is fined: 400 to 700 lei for a stay of up to 30 days after it ends, 600 to 1,000 lei for up to 60 days, and 800 to 1,200 lei for more than 60 days. For foreigners who entered legally but whose stay became illegal, the entry ban is 6 months to 1 year for an illegal stay of 30 days to one year, 1 to 2 years for an illegal stay of 1 to 2 years, 2 to 3 years for 2 to 3 years, and 3 to 4 years for over 3 years. If a foreigner misses the voluntary-departure deadline in a return decision and the illegal stay is under 30 days, the ban is 1 year.
