Slovenia Visa Requirements for Russia Citizens

Visa required

Russia passport holders need a visa for Slovenia, issued by an embassy or consulate before travel.

The European Commission said on 7 November 2025 that from then on Russian nationals can no longer receive multiple-entry visas, so they must apply for a new visa each time they plan to travel to the EU, allowing close and frequent scrutiny of applicants to mitigate any potential security risk.

“From now on, Russian nationals will no longer be able to receive multiple-entry visas. This means Russian nationals will have to apply for a new visa each time they plan to travel to the EU, allowing for close and frequent scrutiny of applicants to mitigate any potential security risk.”

Overstay penalties

1,200 euros

A foreigner whose permitted stay under the law, the Schengen Convention or an international treaty has expired commits a misdemeanour and is fined 800 to 1,200 euros. The police issue a return decision to a foreigner staying illegally, except in certain cases. The return decision sets an entry ban to Slovenia and the EU and Schengen area: one year where a voluntary-departure period was set, not enforced if the foreigner leaves within that period, and five years where the stay is a danger to public order, public security or national security.

Customs allowances

If you enter or leave the EU with €10,000 in cash (or its equivalent in other currencies), you must declare it to the customs authorities in the EU country you are entering or leaving. Canada's travel advice says this does not apply if you are travelling within the European Union.
