Germany citizens need a visa issued in advance by an embassy or consulate of Syria. Start the application several weeks before departure: you will typically need a passport valid for six months with blank pages, a completed application form, passport photos, a travel itinerary, proof of accommodation and of sufficient funds, and sometimes an invitation letter or bank statements.

The Government of Canada says visitors who intend to stay in Syria for longer than 14 days must register with the Syrian Immigration and Passports Office before the 15th day after arrival. The Government of Canada says that for travellers on a tourist visa this applies each time they enter Syria, with a single-entry or a multiple-entry visa.
