China passport holders do not need a visa to visit Tonga for stays of up to 30 days.
China's Foreign Ministry says that under the agreements holders of valid specified passports may stay less than 30 days after entering the other country, and that a holder who intends to stay over 30 days should complete residence formalities with the local authorities under the relevant regulations as soon as possible.
“According to the agreements, holders of valid specified passports are permitted to stay for less than 30 days upon entry into the other contracting country. If a passport holder intends to stay for over 30 days, he or she should go through residence formalities with the local authorities according to relevant regulations as soon as possible.”

China citizens can enter Tonga without a visa and stay for up to 30 days. You only need a valid China passport at the border; immigration officers may still ask for a return or onward ticket, proof of accommodation and enough money for your stay. The 30-day limit usually counts calendar days from your arrival, so book your return flight inside that window.

Tonga's Ministry of Revenue and Customs says the visitor visa on arrival is issued subject to conditions, including that the Customs officer is satisfied the traveller has sufficient funds to financially maintain himself whilst in the Kingdom. No official source we could read states a fixed amount. The UK government tells British citizens they may need to show sufficient funds (a bank statement is acceptable evidence) and confirmed accommodation.

Tonga's Ministry of Revenue and Customs says that after collecting your baggage you submit your completed Passenger Declaration to Customs officers, and that you must declare to Customs if you are bringing any prohibited or restricted goods. The UK government says you must declare anything that may be prohibited or subject to tax or duty, including all plant, animal and food products.
