Tesso Nilo National Park

Tesso Nilo National Park is one of 59 national parks in Indonesia. It covers 1,000 km² (100,000 ha) — about 1.3 times the size of New York City, making it the #34 largest national park in Indonesia (0.4% of the country's national park area).

History and protection

The park was established in 2004, 22 years ago — the first national parks in Indonesia date back to 1931. It is listed in IUCN category II: National Park — protecting whole ecosystems while welcoming visitors for recreation and education.
