In a historic development, Bhutan's national airline, Drukair, will begin operating direct flights from Israel to Bhutan. This new service is set to commence in February and will mark the first time travelers can reach the kingdom without needing a connecting flight.

Flight Details

The direct flights will take approximately seven hours, with five flights scheduled during February and March. Operated on an Airbus A320, the aircraft will feature around 110 seats, offering both economy and business class options. These seasonal flights are organized in collaboration with a travel company, with plans for further operations anticipated in late 2027.

Travel Packages and Costs

Travel packages designed around these flights will last eight days and cater to small groups of up to 16 travelers. The tours include accommodations in five-star hotels and a full-board meal plan. The total cost of the trip is approximately $5,395 per person based on double occupancy, which covers visa fees and the Sustainable Development Fee required by Bhutan for international visitors.

Unique Landing Experience

Passengers will experience a remarkable landing at Paro International Airport, known for its challenging approach due to the surrounding Himalayan mountains. Only a select number of pilots are certified to land at this airport, making the arrival not just a travel experience but a memorable adventure.

With these direct flights, Bhutan is poised to become more accessible to Israeli travelers, allowing them to explore its rich culture and stunning landscapes without the hassle of connecting flights. This initiative reflects Bhutan's ongoing commitment to balancing tourism with the preservation of its unique heritage.
