Which destinations can Nigerian passport holders enter visa-free?

IziVisa lists 24 destinations. Barbados, Benin, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Chad, Ghana, Liberia, Senegal, Sierra Leone and The Gambia allow stays of up to 90 days; Dominica up to six months; Fiji up to four months; Vanuatu up to 120 days; Kenya up to 60 days; Kiribati up to one month; and Micronesia up to 30 days, extendable to 60 days.

Rwanda allows up to 30 days and Togo up to 30 days. The entry is listed for Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Mali and Niger, but no maximum stay is stated for those destinations in the index.

How does the ranking work?

IziVisa assesses passports according to how many destinations can be reached through visa-free entry, visas on arrival and electronic visas. In the latest assessment the United Arab Emirates ranked first, with access to 185 of 198 destinations. Switzerland came second, with visa-free access to 120 destinations, visas on arrival in 26 countries and e-Visas for 37 more. Luxembourg, Malta, Denmark, Spain and Finland also featured among the highest-ranked passports.

How does this compare with the Henley index?

The Henley Passport Index, published in October 2026 by Henley & Partners, places Nigeria 92nd, up from 94th in October 2025. That index uses data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and covers 227 travel destinations. The two rankings use different methodologies and cover different numbers of destinations, so their results are not directly comparable.

What this means for travellers

Nigerian passport holders planning a trip to Kiribati do not need to secure a visa in advance, and the index states a visa-free stay of up to one month. For destinations that require a visa on arrival or an e-Visa, travellers should confirm the current entry requirements with the relevant embassies or immigration authorities before travelling.

No further changes to Kiribati's entry rules for Nigerian citizens are mentioned in the data, and no start date for any revision has been announced.
