How does the index measure travel freedom?
The Henley Passport Index compares how many destinations passport holders can enter without getting a visa before departure. Its scoring also counts qualifying visa-on-arrival facilities and electronic travel authorisations that do not require prior visa approval.
The index covers 199 passports and 227 travel destinations, drawing on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and research by Henley & Partners.
What this means for travellers
A higher position does not guarantee entry under all circumstances. Travellers may still need to meet entry conditions, provide supporting documents or obtain an electronic travel authorisation, depending on their destination and circumstances.
Slovak passport holders should check the specific entry requirements of their destination before travelling, even where no visa is required in advance. No further updates to the index have been announced.
