Key facts

  • Ranking: October 2026 update of the Henley Passport Index
  • Slovenia: joint rank 7, with access to 183 destinations
  • Coverage: 199 passports compared across 227 destinations
  • Top passport: Singapore, with 193 destinations
  • What is counted: destinations reachable without obtaining a visa before departure

What does the index measure?

The index compares passports by the number of destinations their holders can enter without securing a visa before departure. It covers 199 passports and 227 destinations, drawing on data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and additional research carried out by Henley & Partners.

The counts therefore include visa-free entry as well as other forms of access that do not require a visa obtained in advance.

Where does Slovenia rank?

Slovenia shares seventh place with Australia, Canada, Czech Republic, Latvia, New Zealand and Slovakia, each with 183 destinations. The group brings together countries from Oceania, North America and Europe.

Swedish travellers sit higher, in third place worldwide with 187 destinations. Norway, Germany and several other European neighbours are among 11 countries in joint fourth place with 186, while Austria, Greece, Malta, Portugal and Switzerland share fifth place with 185. Malaysia, Hungary, Poland and the United Kingdom record 184 in joint sixth.

Which passports lead the table?

Singapore holds first place with access to 193 destinations. Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates share second place on 188, and the United Arab Emirates is the highest-ranked Arab country in the October 2026 index.

At the foot of the published top 10, Iceland and the United States share tenth place with 180 destinations. The index notes that the United States has fallen from its former leading positions.

What this means for travellers

The ranking does not change any entry rule; it summarises how widely each passport is accepted without advance visa arrangements. Travellers holding a Slovenian passport can use it as a rough guide to where a visa application in advance may not be needed, but the specific requirements for each destination still apply.
