Passport validity
The UK FCDO says your passport should be valid for the duration of your stay and in good condition: travellers who enter with a damaged or torn passport may have difficulty leaving.
No official source we could read makes insurance a condition of entry for visa-exempt tourists. The UK government advises travel insurance for local treatment or unexpected medical evacuation: there is no free medical attention for foreign nationals, and doctors' fees, medication and treatment in private clinics must be paid on the spot.
No official source we could read requires a return or onward ticket. The UK FCDO says border officials have the right to ask on arrival for your onward or return travel tickets, and that a small number of visitors have been denied entry or delayed for not being able to provide sufficient evidence of accommodation.
No official source we could read states a proof-of-funds requirement or amount for Tunisia. The UK Foreign Office lists what border officials have the right to ask for on arrival, including proof of a hotel booking or other accommodation details; funds are not on its list.
The UK government says border officials check the length of stay on departure, and anyone who overstays the 90-day period without a valid reason must pay a fine, either on departure at the airport or in advance at some police stations. The French government says that after an irregular stay, leaving the country must be authorised by the Directorate of Borders and Foreigners, and that this is, as a rule, subject to a fine proportional to the length of the overstay.
Tunisian Customs says any import or export of foreign currency worth 20,000 Tunisian dinars or more must be declared to Customs on entry, on exit and in transit. A non-resident can re-export more than 5,000 dinars' worth of the foreign banknotes they brought in only if they declared them on entry, and not more than 30,000 dinars' worth (above that, through authorised banks and financial institutions); the import declaration is valid for 3 months from entry and for one trip only. Keep the exchange slip when you change currency into dinars: you will need it to change leftover dinars back at a bank.
We track the entry rules of Tunisia for 198 passports. The most common situation is visa required, which applies to 103 passports (52%). 48% of passports can enter without a visa. The least common is visa-free (95 passports).
