What the Turkmenistan visa rules mean for United Kingdom travellers
United Kingdom passport holders need an eVisa to enter Turkmenistan. You apply online, upload a passport scan and a photo, pay the fee and receive the visa by email. Apply at least one to two weeks before your trip and print the approval — some airlines and border officers ask to see it on paper.
The main option is the E-visa (tourists and international conferences and exhibitions). Turkmenistan also offers Ordinary visa (Adaty wiza), Visa on arrival with a letter of invitation (any purpose other than tourism or conference participation) and Transit Visa — see the visa options above.
