Which routes are launching?
From 1 January 2027, Chalair Aviation will fly 2-3 times a week between La Seu D'Urgell and Madrid Barajas, Palma de Mallorca and Paris Orly. The airline will base an ATR42-500 permanently at the airport, which the Andorran government says is the first aircraft ever to be stationed there.
Three further destinations will follow during 2027: Nice at 2 times a week, Lyon St. Exupéry at 1 time a week, and Nantes at 2 times a week. An ATR72-500 may be used on these services during high-demand periods.
Who is operating the flights?
Chalair Aviation is a French scheduled carrier based at Caen. It replaces Air Nostrum, which has operated Andorra's PSO routes to Madrid and Palma since 2022.
How is the route network funded?
The contract includes a maximum annual public contribution of EUR5 million (USD5.6 million), amounting to EUR15 million (USD16.9 million) across the 2027-2030 period. The Andorran government announced the award as a strategic reinforcement of the Andorra-La Seu airport.
What this means for travellers
Travellers heading to or from Andorra will have scheduled air links to Madrid, Palma de Mallorca and Paris Orly from 1 January 2027, with Nice, Lyon and Nantes to follow during the year. Flight frequencies are set at 2-3 weekly on the initial routes, so schedules are likely to be limited.
The Andorran government has not announced exact launch dates for the Nice, Lyon St. Exupéry and Nantes services beyond saying they will be added throughout 2027.
