Mozambique Launches One-Stop Citizen Service Centre to Enhance Public Administration
Mozambique has inaugurated its first continental one-stop citizen service centre in Maputo, aimed at modernising public administration and improving access to essential services.

Mozambique has recently launched its first continental one-stop citizen service centre, named Centro Pronto Mozambique, in an effort to modernise public administration. The centre was inaugurated in Maputo by President Daniel Francisco Chapo and is a collaboration between VFS Global and the Agency for Digital Transformation and Innovation (ATDI, IP).
What Changes Are Introduced?
The initial phase of the service centre focuses on essential administrative services, including passport issuance, national identity cards, driving licences, and documents for foreign residents. The centre offers a combination of online services, self-service kiosks, and assisted counters, allowing citizens to access information, verify personal details, schedule appointments, and make digital payments. Moreover, users can track their applications via SMS and email notifications.
Who Benefits from This Initiative?
This initiative is designed to benefit Mozambican citizens as well as foreign residents. By streamlining administrative procedures, the service centre aims to reduce waiting times and unnecessary travel while enhancing transparency in payment processes. The government plans to extend services to other cities, including Beira and Nampula, and is considering options for Mozambicans living abroad.
How to Access the Services?
Citizens can access the services at the new centre in Maputo, which also provides facilities for secure collection of photographs, biometric data, and digital signatures. The government has emphasized the importance of integrating these services with existing systems to ensure reliability and efficiency.
Centro Pronto Mozambique represents a significant step towards improving public administration in the country. The success of this initiative will be measured by its ability to enhance service delivery, reduce administrative barriers, and increase overall public satisfaction.
