Monaco Passport Holders Among 82 Nationalities Listed for UK ETA
The United Kingdom has published a list of 82 countries and territories whose citizens can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) instead of a visitor visa, with Monaco among the European entries. Stays of up to six months are covered.

The United Kingdom has published a list of 82 countries and territories whose citizens can apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to visit Britain without obtaining a traditional visitor visa. Monaco is among the European nationalities named on the list, alongside Greece, Cyprus, France, Germany and Italy.
Key facts
- 82 countries and territories are listed as eligible to apply for an ETA
- Eligible travellers can visit the UK, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man for stays of up to six months
- Monaco, Andorra, San Marino, Liechtenstein and Vatican City are among the European entries
- Mauritius and Seychelles are the only African countries included
- An ETA is not a visa and does not guarantee entry
- No fee, validity period or application deadline is given in the published list
What is changing?
The published list sets out which nationalities can use the ETA route to travel to Britain without first applying for a standard visitor visa. Eligible travellers must obtain an ETA before travelling when required, and remain subject to the UK's relevant entry requirements.
The ETA system is intended to streamline pre-travel authorisation for eligible visitors while allowing UK authorities to carry out security checks before travellers arrive.
Which nationalities are eligible?
The European entries are Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Vatican City.
From the Americas and Caribbean, the list names Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, the Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Grenada, Guatemala, Guyana, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, St Kitts and Nevis, St Vincent and the Grenadines, the United States and Uruguay.
In Asia and the Middle East, the eligible countries and territories are Bahrain, Brunei, Hong Kong, Israel, Japan, Kuwait, Macao, Malaysia, the Maldives, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates. In Africa, only Mauritius and Seychelles appear. The Oceania and Pacific entries are Australia, New Zealand, Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, the Federated States of Micronesia, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Samoa, the Solomon Islands, Tonga and Tuvalu.
Who is left out?
Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa are not among the eligible nationalities. Citizens of those countries generally need to follow the UK's standard visa application process, subject to their individual circumstances and any applicable exemptions.
What does an ETA allow?
The scheme covers stays of up to six months in the UK, Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man, subject to the relevant entry requirements. An ETA is not a visa and is not a guarantee of entry: travellers must still meet the UK's immigration requirements on arrival.
What this means for travellers
Monaco passport holders and other listed nationalities should secure an ETA before travelling to Britain when one is required, and should still be prepared to meet UK immigration requirements at the border. Because eligibility rules can change, travellers should confirm their status on the official UK government eligibility list before making travel arrangements.
The published list does not state an ETA fee, how long an authorisation remains valid, or any application deadline. The report behind the list is dated 10 September 2026.
