Jamaica travellers gain direct Mexico City flights from March 2027
Aeroméxico will open Mexico's first nonstop air links to Jamaica and the Bahamas, flying from Mexico City to Montego Bay from 18 March 2027 and to Nassau from 19 March 2027. Both routes are three times weekly and still need government approval.

Aeroméxico is launching the first nonstop flights between Mexico and Jamaica, with a Mexico City–Montego Bay service scheduled to start on 18 March 2027. A second new route to Nassau in the Bahamas follows a day later, on 19 March 2027. The services are meant to remove the connecting detours travellers from Mexico have faced until now.
Key facts
- 18 March 2027: first Mexico City–Montego Bay flight
- 19 March 2027: first Mexico City–Nassau flight
- Both routes fly three times weekly on Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft with 166 seats
- Routes operate from Aeroméxico's Mexico City hub
- Both routes remain subject to government approval
What is changing?
Until now, travellers flying from Mexico to Jamaica or the Bahamas have generally had to connect through the United States or Panama. The two new services remove those detours and expand Aeroméxico's international network from its Mexico City hub, giving Mexico its first direct air links to both island destinations.
When do the flights start and what are the schedules?
The Montego Bay service will operate on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Flights leave Mexico City at 9:20 a.m. and arrive in Jamaica at 2 p.m. local time. The return flight is scheduled to depart Montego Bay at 3:15 p.m. and reach Mexico City at 6:20 p.m.
Nassau flights will run on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The outbound service departs Mexico City at 9:10 a.m. and lands in the Bahamas at 3 p.m. The return flight leaves Nassau at 4:15 p.m. and arrives in Mexico City at 6:30 p.m. Both routes remain subject to government approval.
Why is this happening?
Aeroméxico CEO Andrés Conesa said the routes form part of the airline's broader international expansion, while Senior Vice President of Global Sales Giancarlo Mulinelli said they would give customers direct access to the destinations' tourism, culinary and cultural attractions.
The airline already flies nonstop from Mexico City to Punta Cana and Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, as well as Havana, Cuba. The launch dates also target the spring travel peak: for Holy Week 2027, which runs 21–28 March, Aeroméxico expects to offer more than 4,000 weekly seats across 27 weekly frequencies to its Caribbean destinations.
What this means for travellers
Travellers heading from Mexico to Montego Bay or Nassau will be able to fly direct instead of routing through the United States or Panama once the services begin. Both routes are still subject to government approval, so travellers planning to use them can check whether the schedules have been confirmed before booking.
The Montego Bay flights are due to start on 18 March 2027 and the Nassau flights on 19 March 2027, just ahead of the Holy Week period that runs from 21 to 28 March 2027.
