New Dakar TER Rail Service Connects to Blaise Diagne Airport
The Dakar Train Express Régional has extended its service to Blaise Diagne International Airport, enhancing transport options for travelers ahead of the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.

Travelers in Senegal can now benefit from an extended rail service as the Dakar Train Express Régional (TER) has officially connected to Blaise Diagne International Airport (BDIA). This new extension, inaugurated on September 28, adds a 19 km stretch to the existing rail network, enhancing accessibility to the airport.
What Changes
The extension of the TER service brings the total length of the line to 55 km, allowing trains to travel at speeds of up to 160 km/h. The line is equipped with modern infrastructure, including electrification at 25 kV and advanced signaling systems.
Who is Affected
This development is particularly significant for travelers heading to and from the airport, especially with the upcoming Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The new rail link aims to facilitate smoother transportation for both local residents and international visitors.
