Belgrade, the capital of Serbia, is actively working to increase its tourism from China. Senior officials from Serbia highlighted this initiative during a promotional event in Beijing, aiming to strengthen ties and boost visitor numbers.

Tourism Growth and Attractions

Miodrag Popovic, CEO of the Tourist Organization of Belgrade, reported that the city welcomed approximately 1.5 million visitors in 2025, with over 114,000 coming from China. This marks a 19% increase from the previous year. Popular attractions such as Kalemegdan Park and Knez Mihailova Street were featured as must-visit sites for tourists. Additionally, the upcoming Expo 2027, scheduled for May to August, is expected to attract even more international visitors.

Strengthening Connections

Jelena Nikolic, Serbia's deputy ambassador, noted the growing relationship between China and Serbia, which has been bolstered by direct flights connecting Belgrade to major Chinese cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. The establishment of a mutual visa-free travel regime has also facilitated easier access for Chinese tourists, enhancing people-to-people connections.

Visa Policies for Chinese Tourists

Under current regulations, Chinese citizens holding ordinary passports can visit Serbia for up to 30 days without a visa for purposes such as tourism, business, or family visits. This policy is designed to encourage more Chinese nationals to experience Serbia's rich culture and hospitality.

With these initiatives, Belgrade is positioning itself as an attractive destination for Chinese tourists, hoping to foster a vibrant exchange of culture and tourism between the two nations.
